Traffic Studies

The “City of Patterson Transportation Infrastructure Master Plan,” finalized on March 6, 2020, outlines existing conditions, future scenarios, and proposed improvements to the city’s transportation network. The plan, initiated in 2011 and delayed multiple times, aims to guide infrastructure improvements to support growth and maintain quality of life. Two scenarios were analyzed: a 10-year near-term and a long-term buildout scenario. Key intersections operate well except for congestion at the I-5 Southbound Off-Ramps at Sperry Avenue. The plan uses the StanCOG model to project future traffic conditions and identifies significant population and job increases requiring major roadway improvements like widening, new signals, and pedestrian and bicycle enhancements. Estimated costs for these improvements and an advanced traffic management system are provided. The plan also emphasizes “Complete Streets” to ensure accessibility for all travel modes and lists proposed future bike facilities. Recommendations include various infrastructure upgrades to accommodate growth and enhance the transportation system.
